Need I say these things are best arranged before death. I'm sure you'll find it hard, if not impossible to arrange after the event has transpired.

These days some of the coffins are made out of chipboard!
Last thing I'd want to be seen in. ;-)

They can also be made out of cardboard! When your Next of Kin arrange a funeral they can specify what type of coffin is wanted and the quote will be made accordingly. In the same way when you arrange a funeral plan you can stipulate what type of funeral you want and the type of coffin you want to have used. The cost will depend on which plan you take out.

Anyone know the lowest cost funeral that can be had?

Besides me disappearing into the sea with concrete boots to save any costs at all.

Seems to me that the Funeral Business is a parasite on those in grief.

Up the chimney, should not cost £3000 or more.

Now if I lived near an active volcano, problem solved...

Unless it's change the cheapest option were being buried in your garden and/or donating your body to medicine
No charge for either

I am not saying this is the one you should go for but as you can pay up front or in instalments it is a very wise investment. It saves your estate a huge amount of money by buying now. And your loved ones do not have the added trauma of arranging the funeral. They will now if you wanted a green burial, a "normal" burial or a cremation. The music and readings will be what you would have chosen.

Losing a loved one is so traumatic but this does ease things for those left behind.

And remember it is not just the old who die. Young people die due to ill ess or accident every day.

Which is why everyone should make a will as well. Living together without the benefit of marriage or civil partnership means that the surviving partner is not entitled to anything, If you live together and have no children your partners parents will inherit everything and they can decide on the type of funeral. You have no rights. I can still remember a couple who had lived together for many, many years had problems. The man died, he had never got around to divorcing his wife. I think the partner had helped pay the mortgage although it was only in his name. When the man died he wife got everything in his bank account and the house. The partner of over 20 years was left homeless. She went to court but with no will and no marriage the judge had to say he felt sorry for her but the law was against her. If he had divorced the wife then the whole estate would have gone to the parents or if they were dead other relatives. The partner had no right to anything. There is no such thing as a common law wife. Marriage or a will would have meant the partner would have inherited. If you are living together but not married then make a will. And remember if your pension goes to your spouse it will not go to your partner of many years if you did not make your union legal.

If possible take out one where either you or your partner can benefit from the funeral plan not a named person unless you can afford to take out two plans at the same time.

We all expect to live for many years yet but sadly death happens everyday to people of all ages, too often without warning. A prepaid funeral and a will means your loved ones have less to worry about.
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler
