POLL: UK Commercial Property Trust v JD Sports v Inmarsat v Barclays

Post by AAAlphaThunder » Fri Nov 10, 2017 6:11 am

Dear members and fellow investors

Following hot on the heels from our successful vote to purchase both Aviva and Vodafone we have new poll as we have ~£600 cash ready to invest.

I propose we vote for the one share we understand to be the best investment based upon our knowledge, research or simply gut instinct.

The shares are:

UK Commercial Property Trust [UKCM]
JD Sports
Inmarsat [ISAT]
Image
http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-searc ... -euro.0005
Dividend: 8.31% (dropped further in price)
Barclays [BARC]
As always there is an option for none of the above.

I propose we put our money - hard cash - to good use as soon as possible.

Note:
Please vote as soon as you can.
The poll will last seven days.
You can change your vote.
Happy investing :D  :D

Kind Regards

Underfog

Mystified by the 'none of the above' votes so far. Surely if you're voting for 'none' then you need to offer an alternative. Sitting in cash is NOT an alternative, it defeats the point of the club. At the very least, if you're voting for none you need to pop in the thread here and tell us why holding cash is a better alternative.

I've not voted yet but I'll do a little homework and cast later today. Thank you to underfog and richard for getting us back up and running again.

Indeed. I did ask for potential investment choices and gave a full week. This is an investment club and not a saving account.

I have to agree with others, if this is none of the above a reason should be given.

Shares we all know are a long term investment, money sitting in the bank wont earn for us. Yes we have had some bad calls but long term they will work out and this is us learning as a club.

I think it is important to have none of the above so the secretary etc can see that how many members have voted. But also agree if you do not like what is on offer you should suggest something better.

Another pointless post, who the hell cares whether or not you have cast your vote. All that matters is every club member votes so the next step can happen

I voted NOTA because we don't have an agreed upon strategy for the best way forwards
At the moment, Our best assert us Cash-in-the-bank' it not losing as much money as any/all of our shares.
When a share loses money we don't sell it, lick and wounds and move on we buy more! WYF?
Greene king, paid £7,88 a share, it dropped a £ so we brought some more and it dropped another £
No doubt someone will suggest buying more
Our double up in Carrilion has cost us close to £1000 lost!
And what is this obsession with buying Dividend rich shares ? That's clearly not working out
Etc
I cant see me putting in any more money any time soon or voting to buy a share until we have discussions on the best way forward

Once this poll ends I shall start a topic to discuss this in detail. Beforehand I request forthright, detailed and constructive feedback.
