there is a new branch being opened near to us..
are folks here happy customers of Metro Bank?

I have a secondary account at Metro Bank and have had one for years (although there are no branches anywhere near me....)
It has one MAJOR advantage for me - it allows ATM withdrawals in Euros without costs. The exchange is ALWAYS far better than that offered at the ATM, so it's a good backstop. As online banking allows me to move cash from my primary account (First Direct) to my Metro account, I only need to keep a low working balance.......

In Europe - I use it as back-up funds for Portugal.

I don't think they ever had incentives, although some products initially had better terms than they do now.

Good day to day bank who seem to know what the word "Service" actually means. Additionally, similar to macliam I use Metro Bank for accessing Euros whilst away in Europe but one great service is their in branch safety deposit boxes.

I never close an account down so if you are thinking of moving from your existing bank account, leave £1 in your existing account to keep it open (always fiddly to open new accounts) as it may prove useful at some future stage.

Hope that is all helpful - Metro Bank is definitely worth considering as your new main bank I have had no problems with them.

they did.. there were account transfer incentives, including at one stage a payment linked to the number of dogs a customer had.

and agreed BB.. i have 10 c/as at the moment. i'd be up for sacrificing some of them if there was an incentive to be had. and i like the idea of late/sunday opening.

I know who Metro Bank are.

I can get better rates elsewhere. And me, I've embraced the digital age. I have no intention of setting foot in a bank branch if I can help it, no matter what their coffee is like.

Oh, fair enough. I never heard about that or did a transfer.
