an interesting development that none of us saw coming, but not a concern.

i'm curious to see what the CMA make of it. i won't be surprised if they wave it through. perhaps they'll be able to argue that with more scale and pooled resources they'll be positioned to grow the cashback model as a whole and benefit consumers who are not generating cashback at all this stage. in the wider picture, Google, Facebook are on a different scale in terms of online marketing.

Not bad considering Richard only been back a month
Not sure if that will be the case as they say that they intend to run them as now, as two separate entities.

I would note that a certain Richard Yendall has now expressed his opinion.

It's hard to see how the creation of a single giant company can be good news for the UK consumer. Choice and competition is always the most powerful means for improving the offering to consumers. It will also give them a very dominant position in online advertising.

What I would say is this; the proposed merger has nothing to do with 'consumers' as such and everything to do with squeezing more money out of their real customers, i.e. the merchants.

Nice thought but the two seperate companies will still exist but have one owner. There must be an opportunity here; if only we knew what it was...?

What they could do is conspire to pay identical cash back rates which were less than 100%
And/or insist on exclusive deals with merchants
That may be a problem for us
