I am of the opinion there should not be mates rates. If you are a tradesman and do a job that you would normally be paid for then your friends and relatives should pay the going rate.

But this doesn't appear to be happening... Will you therefore be giving to this worthy cause? :eh:

If tradesmen are foolish enough to give "mates rates" then that's their problem and only they can solve it by not offering them in the first place. I have never thought that charity in this way solves a problem. Why should people give when the answer is solely within the recipients gift to resolve?

The video is satire. It is not seriously saying that tradesmen are suffering because of mates rates or freebies offered by their partners. There is no case to answer here.

It is humourous, but that's where the serious discussion ends.

Sorry, everyone else, for pointing out the blindingly obvious, but it appears one of us wants to make a serious issue out of nothing.

Thank you for shattering the myth. I was trying to be serious and go along with it to see how far it would go. Frankly I did think at the time it would have been better posted in Fun & Games. But I did wonder if the OP actually believed what he posted. He posts such a variety of stuff, some of it very outlandish that sometimes its hard to know what he believes or not.
