In reply to some of the posts above:

No holes in the fence one side and a brick wall the other. I would have to get a pair of steps to look into the neighbouring gardens.

And I only spent a very few seconds wondering who was who on FB and here. Really not interested enough to spend any seconds trying to match posts here and there. I just value the posts on both places from who ever posts.

Well, a very frustrating day yesterday

By all accounts there are still issues at this data centre this morning, although we appear to be unaffected so far

There has been numerous outrages already this year; is it time to consider swapping to a more reliable hosting centre? Time is money after all....
I'll certainly consider it, but moving hosting providers is a major time-consuming exercise, and changing environments can also introduce new risks. So I'd have to be confident that there is a major benefit in doing so

By my reckoning, until yesterday we'd had two short-ish outages which were host-related. If we'd been on a more expensive hosting plan, it's possible they wouldn't have happened, but yesterday's issue was a power outage of an entire data centre and even the most expensive servers can't survive without power! Of course, a hosting company ought to have suitable backup arrangements but on this occasion it seems that they weren't sufficient. I'll await a report from the hosting company before drawing any conclusions. They are one of the top-rated businesses and will have suffered severe reputational damage amongst thousands of affected customers - so I imagine they will have a huge incentive to put measures in place to prevent a re-occurrence.

One thing I'm looking at is a fallback method for members to keep clicking through to retailers in the event that the main site is ever unavailable in the future. But of course, it's better to never need this option
It would be good to be kept up to date on this one...
