Well as I have missed it for all these years and have not got time to see everything I would like to see on Freeview I guess I will continue to miss it. And I have no regrets about missing it but pleased for Ireland where it was filmed and for all its fans that it was brought to the TV screen.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin's series of fantasy novels, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show is filmed in Belfast and elsewhere in Northern Ireland, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, Scotland, Spain, and the United States

But mainly in Northern Ireland. Most of the studio scenes are shot in Belfast.

Now TV is probably the cheapest way to catch up. Before the current season starts they made all the preceding seasons available. But they will remove them at some point.
Failing that, you can buy the box sets from CEX and then sell them back, making it a relatively cheap rental.

Still not convinced that I should watch it, pleased it has made so many people happy but there are only 24 hours in a day

It is no loss to me if I never had or wanted it in the first place.
