Chester 0 Stockport County 6
Bolton 0 Middlesbrough 2
but sadly:
Preston NE 0 Leeds 2
But on the other hand:
Norwich have 84 points and a game in hand but Leeds have a mere 79 points and Sheffield Utd could push then down to 3rd place again if they win their game in hand.
Sadly not looking so good for Derby and Middlesbrough

Unfortunately I have to agree with you.
Norwich have been consistent for most of the season and are reaping the rewards of that. Leeds are now benefiting from buying Boro's star striker Bamford who didn't get on with Boro manager Pulis's defensive style of play.
Pulis none the less had Boro in the automatic promotion zone at the end of last year but since then results have not been good and a recent run of 6 defeats lead all to believe that the team were trying to get rid of Pulis in the same way as they did with the previous manager Karanka... Time will tell but we are not to be written off just yet.
I still think Sheffield United are one of the strongest teams in the division just lacking that consistency which would single them out as champions. As the number of games left the options for some teams are running out as well as the future employment of some of the managers no doubt. It will be interesting to see if Derby stick with Lampard if they miss out of the play offs...

I bow to your superior knowledge on this subject. But I find it sad when the players take the money but do not give value for that money in an effort to get the manager the sack. The fans pay their money and end up being shortchanged.
But if you miss out on promotion then at least you can enjoy being a big fish in the pond next season.
Instead of being like Constantine who is hoping for enough crumbs to stay up.
And 'im indoors and me will be in the same boat as Constantine next season by the looks of things.
At least Rich has been in a far superior boat

Lampard is safe as he is not expected to make the playoffs, this season is one of transition for us as the owner recently revealed we have a £40m wage bill(!!) with 40% of this being paid to players not featuring for the first team(!!!!) we have 11 out of contract this summer so we will have a big rebuild to undertake and with the increasing likelihood of further investment being in the works Lampard will have much more flexibility in building a squad he desires to play his tactical style.
We are cautiously optimistic, the playoffs would be a bonus.

The days of the "impact managers" has gone! The Di Canio's and even the Redknapps are no more (apart from on the TV); which is a shame because the great characters of football came from those ranks.
The managers job (even the name has changed to Coach) is now split over so many departments in the leading clubs, know as sports technology, finance etc all are more observed and at the forefront of the management structure of the clubs much more than before and supposedly putting them on a more professional standing.
Players are such high collateral assets that they hold the real power.
Even with all that a manager knows he is still more likely to end his days at any club with a sacking (leaving by mutual consent!)...

And on the Continent especially the younger anager/coach has a Uni degree but not played professionally.
Not a great night for us but at least we got 1pt. Reading are fighting to stay in the championship and apparently packed the defence in the hope of a draw.
Happy memories as a child of going to Reading Horse sales with my Dad so hope they succeed in staying up. Sadly Ipswich is a lost cause.
