UK Parliament declares climate change emergency

Post by William Joseph1 » Wed May 01, 2019 11:35 pm

MPs have approved a motion to declare an environment and climate emergency.
The declaration of an emergency was one of the key demands put to the government by environmental activist group Extinction Rebellion, in a series of protests over recent weeks.

Suggested date for zero emmision is currently 2050 although there are changes afoot to make it 2030. Will your stopwatch need winding?

Ha, no, I started the stopwatch because there was a trigger phrase in the first post and I'm wondering how long it will go unnoticed...

Where is he when you're looking for him?

Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me

I feel much better than Parliament has decided to set a date for the UK to miss the chance of doing anything to help the environment....

The problem is that given the lead times for any changes to take effect, some things need to be done now..... and that's more than adding to Climate change with more hot air. Maybe we could build some offshore windmills...... :eh:

If the previous Governments, Councils and everyone living in the country had done things earlier it would be so much easier.

And I am cynical over that climate change emergency. The fog is right, a step in the right direction but only a baby one when giant steps are needed.
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler
