Ignore emails from people asking for your help

Post by blythburgh » Thu Jun 20, 2019 10:12 am

I had one this morning using the name of a member here saying they had been told by said member that I could help them with a problem.

Needless to say the member here has confirmed they had nothing to do with it. The person who sent the email was involved with now defunct cashback site we both belonged to and somehow got my email from there.

So if you get one just mark it as spam and delete.

And the low life has now used my email address to sign me up to numerous new accounts, lots of welcome to a site or the daily email from lots of Biblical sites. None of them ever visited by me.

Back in the day it was the way to get ahead. Fortunately, the world has moved on and it is now quality over quantity.

Now I am getting emails from cashback sites I belong telling me I have asked for a password reset.

And phone calls from paypal. I contacted them this morning and they confirmed someone on a different computer to this one had tried to access my account.

I am already feeling stressed about stuff going on in my life and can do without this.

I sympathise with you. Not nice to have this done to you. Had it occurred to you that the person doing this to you, is also reading this probably and is enjoying having the fact that they are making your life a misery confirmed. Perhaps it would be better not to feed them.

I am hoping Richard has banned him from the forum as he knows who it is.

Person concerned with an apparent static Virgin IP address has for some time been creating fake accounts/forum ids relating to at least three different people on this forum including creating account/forum id with someones actual first and last name, started in 2015 and has recently restarted, believed to be an older male who clearly views this forum and various people who use it as a means to occupy/pass his time, probably doesnt work aka "economically inactive".
