"We are soooo Green!"... Don't make me laugh! All we are doing with electric cars, green energy etc. is moving the problem elsewhere... https://www.france24.com/en/20190614-re ... 2463152530 :eh:

...all this in the wake of the TV report on UK's waste plastic mountains in the Malaysian jungle.... :problem:
Yes, it is a bit shit.
We pay them to sort and refine our waste, but we don't enforce our own own standards for the operations. In fact we turn a blind eye to the working practices and conditions. Not just the UK, but all of Europe. Presumably the US, Japan, Australia and every other rich economy does something similar.

What do you think we should do to remedy this situation?

What the hell has electric cars, green energy etc to do with recyling of plastic waste?

One has caused problems partly because it has not been properly sorted before we sell it on

The rest benefit the environment and help to reduce pollution and global warming.

Oh I forgot boro boy does not seem to want to stop petrol and diesel vehicles polluting the atmosphere and killing people. Or that even global warming is a problem that is getting worst

Careful there. Mr Boro Boy has previously complained about people telling other people what someone else's views are.

Car need batteries, batteries need to be built with mined constitutes, they need to be charged (not necessarily all wind/solar power and they need to be disposed of...!

But still greener than petrol/diesel cars. And they do not kill people with what comes out of the exhaust

...but that's just the point! You appear to have missed that!?! - are they greener...!?! Or are we just off-setting the problem elsewhere on to the place where the batteries are made, or where the materials a mined, or where the electricity is generated or where the batteries are disposed of - or all these things...!?!

Possibly not. The energy required to produce and distribute paper bags means that they need to be used three times more than plastic bags to have a lower carbon footprint.

Of course that is unimportant if you do not believe in climate change.

Tesco used to use paper bags for their home delivery of green groceries and have stopped using those paper bags specifically for this reason.

Who is Greener Boots or Tesco?
