Where laws around data privacy are entirely different to those here in the EU.

The first piece of advice is universal, though - Don't give them the data in the first place.

I would be interested if anyone has completed all the steps highlighted in the original link and how easy they found it... I guess it would be very difficult to measure how successful the actions are; as its the same as having a firewall I guess, you never know what it may have saved you from...!?!

I doubt it. For example, the likes of Google and Facebook have data centres in Ireland. I can't imagine why any UK retailer or bank, for example, would want to put their severs 4,000 miles away on the other side of the Atlantic.

What would be the point? Of what relevance is the Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call registry?

In the UK we have a different set-up including GDPR.
