Black Wednesday

Post by blythburgh » Thu Jul 25 2019 11:01am

Those words have a new meaning now. Brexit Party has taken over the Tory party and we now have the two main parties ruled by the hard right and the hard left.

The dubious character who masterminded the Leave campaign is now an advisor and no doubt making sure Johnson knows what to do.

Any cabinet minister who did not support him in the leadership campaign are out which shows pettiness not leadership on Johnson's behalff.

He has given senior roles to people with little experience.

I find it ironic that the children of immigrants want to stop immigration. We are here so pull up the drawbridge.

Farage can give up on the Brexit Party as it now exists with the new mane of The Conservative Party.

A black day for all but the rich.

You are entitled to your opinion and it is called democracy. There is no doubt that the country needs to move on from the current impasse. Whilst I am a remainer in my heart. I recognise that the current situation is doing more damage than good. Once Brexit is out of the way there will be a general election and we can all have our say once again.

I am a remainer who hopes all will turn out well and the Govt. can start to tackle all the stuff that has been sidelined due to Brexit

Or more likely the other way around; the fallout from any kind of Brexit would take decades to work through, whilst Johnson appears to be gearing up for a General Election in the very short term.

It's not democracy to have Boris Johnson as PM - there should be another General Election A.S.A.P

Nicola Sturgeon took over from Alex Salmond without an election.
Gordon Brown took over from Tony Blair without an election.
Teresa May took over from David Cameron without an election.

Democracy is what you make it. Boris the buffoon being PM is as democratic as it gets. If you don't think it's right then you need to campaign to change the system rather than shout from the sidelines.

This might be where he is heading:

Sounds plausible.
Certainly he must be aware that the EU has for some time refused to budge on renegotiating the Withdrawal Agreement, and specifically on the backstop.
So for Boris to go straight in with a contradictory position is not a foolish mistake. It is calculated.
