Post Office travel money card - opportunity

Post by pabenny » Mon Aug 12 2019 1:35pm

Post Office travel money is a prepaid MasterCard that you can load with GBP or major foreign currencies. There are no transaction fees except for cash withdrawals. Minimum top up is £50 with a fee of 1.5%/min £3 if your card is denominated in GBP.

Q currently have £15 cashback (£8.20 here, £8 at TCB). There is a reasonable arbitrage opportunity – Top up with £50 at a cost of £53, and get cash back of £15. Gain £12 (or £5.20 here).

I take it that you can use it at any place online or off line. I get them at some paid for action sites but send the money to paypal. A bit of a convoluted thing to explain how so will not bore you all here.

AFAIK it's a standard pre-paid MasterCard that can be used anywhere.

Make sure you use up all of the balance before it expires.
