Worth it if you spend enough every month but certainly not for everyone

It's a bold move. Based on the provisional details from MSE it will lock in the more loyal customers but does nothing for those that shop at Tesco less regularly.

10% off 2 big shops in-store Assuming that all you do in Tesco is buy the groceries means it maybe not worth doing unless you have the sort of checkout bill that means you should be buying more stuff from Aldi/Lidl. And if other supermarkets are in your area means shopping around could not be worth it

£40 twice a month covers the cost.
If you can buy non-perishables in bulk twice a month, and do just two big shops with as much as possible, then you'd make a saving of a few pounds.

For me, the prospect of a saving enough for a couple of cups of coffee isn't enough to justify tying myself to the monthly fee and having to manage my shopping to get the benefit. Too much effort for too little reward.

But two £40 spends on branded goods is not that hard, each month.

There could be value, but 10% of stuff that is already 20% cheaper in Aldi is not going to win many people over.

£8 a month for triple points would have been a different kettle of fish, with clubcard upgrades still matching 1:3.

2 extra points per £1 for £7.99 a month? You've have to spend £400/month to cover the fee at face value of points.

We could do the £40 twice a month but if it has to be branded goods then we will need to hire storage for all the bulk buys we would have to buy.

But if we go not many yards down the road through a nearby village which we are visiting or by using the village road instead of the bypass we can buy Co-op own label stuff and get 5p in the pound in instant dividend. Well almost instant, we have to do a 2nd shop to be able to spend the divi just earned.

5p beats Tesco 3p maximum.
