So Labour are going to give everyone ‘Hi speed broadband ‘ because it is a ‘necessity for modern living!’
Unlike food, water gas, electricity and common sense.

... I'm sure pabenny would appreciate [Mr Boro Boy] addressing his comment
....probably a forlorn hope
Those who argue using falsehoods, inaccuracies, half-truths often go silent or deflect when their points are rebutted. Mr Boro Boy is no different. Whilst I will counter such posts, I've long since given up expecting responses of substance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the promise is to have everyone connected to the system. As far as I know, it doesn't cover any costs of using it.

Yes I read it as free for all. I despair at giving free broadband to those who can easily afford it when we have food banks and some pensioners struggling to pay their heating bills.
And yes I am unhappy at free bus passes for those who can afford to pay the full fare and free TV licences for people who live rent and mortgage free and pay tax. But how can it be given to those who need it but not those who do not. Restricting it to only those on pension credit is not the answer IMHO as not everyone who qualifies gets pension credit and you can be 1p above the limit and not get it. So you pay council tax and will your currently free TV licence (if over 75). So give to all seems the best answer.
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler

If people have paid taxes all their lives they deserve a free bus pass and TV license . If they want to pay let it be their choice.

Why? surely it would be better for everyone to have a decent income and then have the freedom to decide for themselves what if any extras they they want to have.

Deserve?
Really? Does Paul McCartney (or any other well-off 75 year-old) "deserve" a free TV license. And does he deserve it any more or less than a lady who was first a housewife/stay-at-home mum and then worked part time, earning below the personal allowance?
Does someone who had the good fortune to work for the same employer all their life and have a secure pension based on their final salary "deserve" a free bus-pass?
The loudest defenders of perks are usually the beneficiaries.

I never said that others don't deserve it or deserve it less .
