Your logic is flawed: The French Government should have no control over the sale of British Steel than the British Government have over Renault's car production in France...Sarah wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09 2019 1:54amDId you read the article that you linked? It's about France Rail, a profitable UK owned subsidiary of British Steel that they understandably have concerns about being sold off to China's Jingye. It appears to have nothing to do with EU membership and Brexit unless you consider why they're going to be buying steel from Ascoval in France instead of Scunthorpe or you simply welcome it becoming more difficult and more costly for UK businesses to invest and trade with the rest of the world. If anything, seems like the facts would support stopping Brexit to help British Steel survive.
Thank you for trying to cloud and twist the issue. The French Government can have as much say as they want about British Steel, my argument is that should not extend to a Veto over its purchase in the UK, that is the prerogative of an elected British Government and shows another reason we would be better off outside the EU.Sarah wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09 2019 9:49amYour miscomprehension just reads like knee-jerk zealotry to be brutally honest. It's an article about France Rail operating in France; the French government are obviously entitled to express concerns. Would you be happy for the British government to have no say regarding British Steel operations in the UK after ownership transfers to China's Jingye?
As usual, the linked article dos not support anything said by the OP. The comment is a kneejerk reaction to an article that does not even mention the EU - or Brexit - and which, by extension, is not actually affected by either of them..... except in the imagination of a desperate europhobe who presumably hopes either that nobody actually reads the linked article, or has the reading skills of a 4-year old, or cannot actually comprehend the meaning of the words used.Boro Boy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09 2019 1:08amThe French Government want to VETO the take over and future survival of British Steel... As if we needed another reason to leave the EU the French Government involvement in our own affairs is enough for Steel Workers to accept that the sensible way ahead is only a quick clean BREXIT https://steelguru.com/steel/french-gove ... eel/553185
