I would say debt is OK if means you can manage to get a zero interest deal and invest the money somewhere where it is earning interest.
The danger would be if you needed the money invested but as long as you have a decent amount in an instant access account that is seperate from the money needed to pay back the debt if the worst ever happened it seems an excellent idea. Not for everyone of course but for the lucky few why not stooze?

that is the essence of stoozing, pakefield.
Nationwide: existing account. offered me 7.9%Int/18m/no fee. no thank you.
MBNA: existing account. offered me 0%Int/26m/3%fee. better. but no thank you.
Santander: 0%Int/18m/no fee: Applied: Unsuccessful.
Halifax: Had a bit of a game, as applying via the link always drops out.. and applying from the website cold lead me to being told i was eligible for 3 offers: Clarity, with no BT deal, FlexiCard, no fee but need to pay installments over 2-36 months, Classic, 0% for up to 16m, but 3% fee. no thank you. but.. logged into online banking and applied from there: 0%Int/15m/no fee/£15klt/£14250bt deal done.

yes Sarah. happy with the outcome. i'll be happy when that BT is showing on my Halifax online banking though. i've known them to be unreliable in the past.

thank you both.. but unfortunately Halifax have let me down and i've gone with MBNA instead.
paying a £400+ fee doesn't sit very nicely, but it's still cheap money and i can use it profitably.

I got 1.5% for 18 on a balance transfer on a new card from Nationwide. It seems existing customers are nobodies priority, but Barclaycard are always good for the odd offer, currently offering me £13.5k for 2 years for 2.9% fee, which is decent enough for me (1.45% a year is cheaper than the mortgage).

agreed pp.
i've used Amex as my main spending card for a long time now,
but MBNA and Barclaycard have been consistent providers of BT deals for me - either by applying for a second card and then merging limits, or repeat deals, as in this case.
