I just wish I'd listened to those so called 'Remainer' scaremongers now.

It's only just turned a minute past 11 o'clock on Brexit day and we've already run out of milk in our household.
My pick for POTM for February

I have no more in the way of Democracy now than I had before 11pm. The UK always has and always will be a democratic country in the same that although not a country the EU has also been democratic.

Oh by the way, I am not a Granddad and am never likely to be. Another fact you have got wrong.
You and Eddie can always adopt or become foster dads which will give you the chance to be a Granddad

Boro Boy has a point. For too long we have been in a system where we have no say in who makes the rules.

We are only allowed to vote for our local MP.
We do not vote on which party forms the government.
We do not vote on who is the Prime Minister.
We do not vote on on which ministers are in the cabinet.
We do not vote on who sits in the House of Lords.
We do not vote on the faceless bureaucrats in the civil service.
We do not vote on the head of state.

I fully support Boro Boy's decision to leave this undemocratic system.

What we want is a system where every position is either directly elected by the population, or by representatives of the people. To make sure everyone gets a say, there should be rules to ensure all geographic areas are represented at all levels (and we don't end up with just a few regions represented at the higher levels). The amount of representation should reflect the size of the population. Moreover, those representatives should be selected in a manner chosen by the people of that area.
The cherry on the cake would be for the whole governance system to be based on the principle of making decisions as close to the people as possible.

That would be much more democratic, and I am totally in agreement with Boro Boy that we should support the more democratic system.

We joined the EEC a trading group but a political union was hoisted upon us!
No, we elected a government to make decisions on our behalf, and they did.
The UK does not make policy by public referendum.

And it's "foisted".

I'm hoping this is a false flag operation by an unhappy remainer.
That being the lesser of two evils.

I think that's unlikely....... and I'm sure you know there are enough bigots out there who would applaud the views expressed. Recent events have just encouraged them to come out from under their rocks....

I have to say that I read it with a wry smile when I thought about Portugal..... I wonder if anyone has posted anything similar in the Algarve.

Probably not - there'd be no point if it was written in Portuguese.....
