We should probably reconsider this in a month or so...
A month is too soon. It should be reviewed every quarter.
I am inclined to agree with this, otherwise you end up with the same issue just going on and on and :eh:

Well I guess what would prompt another vote is if one or more members, who had previously voted against or not voted, decided that they were in favour of trying the new proposal. Until that happens, we can stick with the current scheme

All I would say to those who favour the status quo is: if people perceive that we are giving away shares for worthless posts, it harms imutual's reputation which in turn affects the potential value of your shares. So I'd urge everyone to keep an open mind on this...

More importantly if people understand that Richard's shares are protected via his limited company and the rest of us "equal" members lose ours on death it harms "imutual's reputation which in turn affects the potential value of your shares. So I'd urge everyone to keep an open mind on this..."

We are being slatted in other HIGHLY influential forums.

Well I may as well have my two penniworth worth, if it's worth even that?

Personally I don't need 'thanks', a gold star or a paper hat to post something I hope is useful to someone. If a member can't give a bit of news, open a debate, post a freebie, a good offer or tell a joke freely without the pressure of someone wanting to criticize they didn't remember to thank someone in order for them to get a rewarded shares, well I think this just about sums up what's wrong with Britain today but I won't go there!

In conclusion, I don't think there should be any shares at all for posting anything on the forum. I think it's a bit gimmicky and leaves the site open as a target for other sites to shoot at. I also feel it can cause unwelcome animosity among members. Bearing in mind I could make comment about my big left toe and still get awarded a share the whole share thing is a bit downgrading I feel. I'm just content being able to earn a few bob and have shares awarded ligitimately with purchases or earnings.

Go on shout me down, you know you want to!

Remember the best freebie you'll ever get came with your kit, it's called a sense of humour it's just that some came more developed than others.

Re: superman's point.

As per my response to that here
I would be perfectly happy to agree to someone 'inheriting' shares, if we could ensure that the person in question remained an active imutual member. Perhaps we can explore whether there is a practical way to achieve that
This issue can actually be a bit of positive PR for imutual, rather than negative. If we get a consensus on a rule change and vote it through at the next AGM, I can't think of a better way to demonstrate how, in contrast with all other sites, members here are genuine owners :)

I've only seen one post myself, but do PM me if you've spotted others. And the two negative respondents on that post seem to have developed a track record of negativity towards imutual at any opportunity, for some reason :?

bad2theboner is right when he says posters should post because they want too not because they expected to get a share when it get thanked
On the other hand thankin someone whose hi lighted something that's help you costs nothing at all so why not
There are alot of posts I don't even read because they don't appeal but that don't mean i like them band.
All good forums are a Broad Church, in fact if people aren't posting to complain about other poster then the forums aren't doin their job

A question regarding the current shares for posting scheme:

As I understand it - If I start a thread and it is replied to, I earn one share. If I post a reply to someone else's thread I earn one share. What if I start a thread and answer it myself do i pick up two shares?

I just thought I'd ask the question because if that's the case it could be open to abuse.

i agree with everyone saying that shares for posting shold be scrapped.

Since it started Ive wanted to post less and cant be bothered to read latest posts as they are generally rubbish.

Ive given up on the forum for that reason.

If husband and wife thank each other it may be because they are "sympatico". So to call them a cheat and delete their account as has been suggested (but not by Richard who has a sound business head on him) is bordering on defamation at the worst and or in the least, rather unfair.

I post in the freebies about other opportunities to earn from activity on the Internet, besides using imutual. Rival sites in some cases it could be arhued, but not necesserily better than imual, and so not a threat to imutual. More a case of doing other offers after imutual daily clicks, and other imutual activities.

So, I am not really bothered about getting shares for posting, the reward I get is when I get thanked for helping, and also when I sometimes get a recruit that increases my revenue from other sites.

Not sure all the programming effort is worth it to alter this shares for posting, far better to just say the EXPERIMENT of shares for posts has ended, End of the matter.

If Richard wants to preempt the moaners and whiners then give everyone a bonus 50 shares as "termination fee" for ending the forum posting shares. Most people would not earn that in their lifetime anyway, from posting that is.

As to reciprocal thanks, yes it will happen, as Ciao and Dooyoo experience. Is it worth all the effort to catch the cliques and suspend them so creating bad feeling with imutual memebrs, where otherwise harmony and goodwill (and active member recruitment) would exist?

P.S.
While it is still the case, I will gratefully accept the 1 share for this helpful post (or was it 10 minutes of effort just motivated by 1 share in the first place ???).
