Boro Boy has a point. For too long we have been in a system where we have no say in who makes the rules.

We are only allowed to vote for our local MP.
We do not vote on which party forms the government.
We do not vote on who is the Prime Minister.
We do not vote on on which ministers are in the cabinet.
We do not vote on who sits in the House of Lords.
We do not vote on the faceless bureaucrats in the civil service.
We do not vote on the head of state.

I fully support Boro Boy's decision to leave this undemocratic system.

What we want is a system where every position is either directly elected by the population, or by representatives of the people. To make sure everyone gets a say, there should be rules to ensure all geographic areas are represented at all levels (and we don't end up with just a few regions represented at the higher levels). The amount of representation should reflect the size of the population. Moreover, those representatives should be selected in a manner chosen by the people of that area.
The cherry on the cake would be for the whole governance system to be based on the principle of making decisions as close to the people as possible.

That would be much more democratic, and I am totally in agreement with Boro Boy that we should support the more democratic system.
...and we would still vote to leave the EU....

IMHO

1) if we had been given the chance for a People's Vote

or

2) If all retired people had been denied a vote not just those affected in the EU who had lived there for more than 15 years

We would still be in the democratic EU

The future is as straightforwards as reversing this.

So you're witnessing it.

What next to the twisted undemocratic remainers arsenal?: "...if only just remainers had been allowed to vote and no one else...!?!"

We've been round this one several times before.

Mr Boro Boy has made his mind up about democracy and the EU - as indeed has Mrs Blythburgh about the fairness or unfairness of the referendum and possible outcome of a second vote.

Don't trouble them with facts.

Yes, I keep forgetting Boro Boy isn't assessing reality or anything factual. Just a vague sense of British is best, so therefore anything involving foreigners must by definition be not as good.

Well Boro Boy, your wish is granted. Now prove you were right.

He will 'do' nothing to prove he was right. He, like all the others who supported this, will expect everyone else to make it work. The people who suggest 'being British' is enough are not the ones at the coal-face, unfortunately. People who actually work in this world voted to stay in because we know the reality of the world as it actually is in 2020.

"Believing" doesn't pay any bills.

The pomposity of this guy parchedpeas is understandable; he knows nothing so reacts with personal insults as it is seen as a way forward for him - very productive... well... I guess it gives him something to talk about!
