Queen Elizabeth Addresses the Nation

Whatever people think of the Monarchy it was a reassuring performance, in such challenging times, from Her Majesty.

Spooky
While she was addressing the nation, I was addressing an envelope :!:

Very clever the way you wrote that.

Who was the recipient?

The Queen of course or the Queen Daughter who is a GP and needs all the cheery messages she can get at this time
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler

I'm not a royalist, but leadership is a hearts-and-minds thing, not just actively doing things. National broadcasts "to keep up morale" are more important at times like these than government spokesmen trying (and largely failing) to answer questions. Cooments about this only having been done x times previously are meaningless, given the greater communication in general today.

At the same time, I note that Leo Varadkar has re-registered as a medical doctor in order to help out once a week. Although he is a medical doctor and an ex-GP, he hasn't practiced since becoming a minister in the Dáil, so the amount of re-training that would be required for him to serve in the front-line is incompatible with his role as Taoiseach, but he is content to work in a "back-room" capacity. Every little helps.

Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me
