I would see the point if it was selective flights from certain countries that were being quarantined. But a blanket rule would seem to me to be akin to closing the gate after the horse has bolted.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52594023 According to the BBC it is Quarantine.
UK airlines say they have been told the government will bring in a 14-day quarantine for anyone arriving in the UK from any country apart from the Republic of Ireland in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
I have no idea, but apparently there are going to be random checks. Perhaps a new Department for Quarantine Enforcement will be given the responsibility or even perhaps Border Force as they are so effective at policing the Borders especially around the Dover area.

UK 'to bring in 14-day quarantine for air passengers'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52594023
Simon Calder has just been on LBC extremely worried for the survival of the travel industry if this measure is enacted, expecting 5-figure job losses and pointing out that the WHO only recommend it during the initial containment stage of a pandemic (i.e. two months ago). He says it would now be too much, too late.
This government seems to have done everything back-to-front. It's a total mess.
Greece did this in the first days of the pandemic and they've kept on top of their issues up to this point.

Well it looks like its been introduced... but a bit woolly as regards advised/enforced...!!!
Still in these dark days it is to the past we turn to inspire us to a better future and what is more inspiring that VE Day, celebrating the defeat of a darkness that threatened all of Europe and beyond makes our present battle against an invisible enemy and the hardships we now have to endure pale into insignificance…

People arriving in the UK would have to self-isolate at a private residence.

Today I had an update regarding my friend in London - he has just spent his 43rd day in ICU.
Despite being told a week ago that his organs were shutting down.... it seems that he is now breathing without oxygen during the day and his reduced heart function is no longer a priority. He still has reduced kidney function and is being dialysed, but the doctor is now saying his recovery will take a long time..... which is far better than the message last week..
Interestingly, my godson told me that his dad had no cough and no fever - though he was complaining of hot and cold flushes. His primary complaint was a stomach pain so bad that the ambulance crew thought it was a burst ulcer or appendix. He was only diagnosed COVID19 positive in hospital.....
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me
