More than 12,000 people in the UK are set to lose their jobs after a raft of firms announced cuts in the past 48 hours.

The cuts are mainly being made by High Street retailers and in aviation - two of the sectors hardest hit by the coronavirus lockdown.

The BBC is to cut 450 jobs in its English regional TV news and current affairs, local radio and online news.
The proposed cuts are on top of the 450 redundancies previously announced - and subsequently put on hold - by BBC News.

now that i quite like to see, in that the agenda has been so openly pervy for so long, and getting worse.

If you ask those on the left they say the BBC is right-wing biased.

that's only half true - assuming you are asking intelligent, reasonable adults.
the bias is absolutely clear, and even those on 'their side' are embarrassed.

Yeah, they gave loony rights like Farage and Tice almost permanent seats on Question Time, which was utterly ridiculous.

However, that has very little to do with regional news, which is struggling across all forms of media.

Farage has apparently appeared on Question Time 32 times in 18 years, ie. 1.7 weeks/year.
and he was a part of the movement that won the referendum, so perhaps not as much of a 'loony' as some might like to believe.. there's no real discussion to be had, as you can't believe that the BBC has a 'right' bias.

anyway, pubs opened at the weekend.. and we're seeing most of the country opening back up. but now the damage is starting to be revealed, or caused, as the costs are all coming back to normal, with cashflow reduced in many cases.

No, I think it's unbiased in intent, however they've made some serious mistakes. They set editorial policy for BBC news to treat leaving the EU as a foregone conclusion shortly after the referendum, which was unjustified as the result was so slim and unsound; it could have gone other ways. The worst problem they have is giving airtime and prominence to "both sides" of any issue under the guise of "balance", even when one is fact-based and the other just opinion or lies. That's not doing their job properly, nor is allowing politicians to get away with giving nonsense answers to questions. These failings have fuelled the current rise of fantasy politics and charlatans taking power, which has obviously helped the right.

That's a touch out of date - the tally is now 35 and is a higher frequency than any other guest.
