Julian Bream, the Guitar and Lute virtuoso has died at his home in Wiltshire at the age of 87.
He won four Grammy Awards and received 20 further nominations.

He was truly a maestro of the instrument..... highly regarded throughout the world. Not bad for someone who taught himself to play on a lute his father bought off a sailor in Charing Cross Road!

Very sad news but he made the guitar acceptable in the classical music world. And many people who have followed in his footsteps as professional or amateur will always be grateful for that
