The inheritances waiting to be claimed

If a person leaves no will and no-one comes forward to claim their estate, it becomes the permanent property of the Crown and the Treasury

And a funeral plan. Nothing is worse than having to plan a funeral when are at your lowest emotional point and have no idea what your loved one wanted.

no will or funeral plan. not to mention trying to get a group of people into a pub to sensibly have a few pints.

That is sad news. A family member lost, no way to know what his wishes were re estate or funeral. And the difficulty in choosing who could come just adds to the emotional toll.

I hope it was a case of "not got around to it" rather than what one person said in my hearing once. "I refuse to make a will, let them fight over what I leave." And it was not said in a joking tone unfortunately.

it wasn't the latter blyth.. i sorted his funeral, and he hasn't left a lot, but he's left enough to cover his funeral.

That is good news that he left enough for the cost of the funeral.

We have one prepaid funeral plan and the sale of the house will cover the other funeral. But will we save as much money as my neighbour? Probably not, her plan cost her £1500 when she bought it. Ours was nearer £4000 but at least we have not worries about the rising cost of funerals.
