Confused ..

Post by jleafy » Wed Feb 10 2021 12:47am

:?
Hi
Wonder if anyone can help?
I have someone or something signing up to subscriptions in my name via a cash site (not here)
Most recent being dog food .. I contacted company who confirmed an amount had been paid for the items I received??
I haven’t had any money taken from my bank so what is the point?
A few month ago I received some magazines which I threw away as junk, since doing some research it looks like they had a cash a offer on too....
I’m totally confused xx

Sounds like a way of working the cashback by using multiple addresses and someone has just picked your address as a target.

Not likely to be your problem unless you want to take up any of these offers yourself. AFAIK none of the subscription services credit check customers so it's unlikely to affect your credit record.

Thanks for the reply 😊
At first I thought it was just a random selection of my address,
But they used my name, address and even used a telephone that used to be mine years ago.
The bit Im confused about is how they can profit from this as they paid a initial amount of money for what looks like a lower Cashback payout 🤷‍♀️X

Someone you know has too much money/time but why they are doing this is very odd. Can you get the company who sent the items to give you the name of the buyer?

I was on the phone to the company for ages, they gave me the email address used and the last 4 digits on the card but not the name.
I think I’ll call them again today ...
No money has come of out of my bank though so I’m hoping it’s not in my name ..😬

If the last four digits are not yours then no money will leave your account.

Last year I had a slightly similar issue in as much as someone was using my email address to sign me up to newsletters/cashback sites. it did not involve me receiving goods at my address. But it did mean I had oodles of spam emails.

I took the attitude that it was a mild irritant. But was doing me no harm. Pressed the unsubscribe button on most and for those that I could not created a rule in the email inbox to send them to junk.

At the end of the day I feel sorry for those that feel they have a need to pester/malign other people. but that it says more about the emptiness in their lives than it does about mine.
