Hello from Craig guiltmanager

Post by guiltmanager » Sun Apr 18 2021 5:14am

Hello all, so I joined this site a while ago, about a year or so ago, and love the idea of having shares in the site, actually part owning something I'm using and feeling part of something rather than just a customer is quite thrilling! I love moneysaving, bargains, and finding ways to get more cashback than the cost of a product or service.

I live near london in supported housing as I'm totally blind very deaf and have ocd, anxiety, depression and autism, so got the whole package! Tried taking it back to the shop for a refund, but sadly they refused as it'd gone past the 30 days refund period! if you dont laugh you will cry haha!

I love audio books, chatting online and making new friends, and asking odd questions! which I'm off to do in the life's questions section now.

take care all

my odd question is posted in the life's questions section.

I use a screen reader which is like text to speech which reads everything back to me and use a standard keyboard to touch type on.

Welcome to imutual.
How would you rate the site for accessibility? Most of us have probably never had to consider this, so it will be interesting to know.

good question, its been pretty good so far not had any problems I can think of, off the top of my head.
though, each post in the forum could do with a heading, like the replies have, to save me having to navigate down with the arrows hearing all the
forum post, by such and such on such and such date etc, i can just skim through the titles then and see if anythings of interest.

To be honest most of this site is pure text, which should make a screenreader's life much easier than having to deal with endless extra code for images, layout and other horrors of HTML/javascript and the alike.

Yep, the simplicity of the imutual layout surely helps, although some of the cues that software like JAWS uses are non-visual, so it's not necessarily obvious to sighted users when they're missing or incorrect.

There are guidelines and standards for building accessible websites here:
