I'd rather pay a few £ more to get section 75 protection

Get a Natwest Reward CC and be like me and get 0.5p for every pound spent on the card.

And use Amazon Smile to support for a large, small or tiny charity (your choice from a huge list) to give them 0.5p for every pound you spend at Amazon
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler

Mastercard, too, has increased its interchange fees. However, Visa is a far larger card issuer in the United Kingdom and the decision will likely impact millions of customers. https://www.zdnet.com/article/amazon-bl ... rds-in-uk/

it's an interesting one.. some seem to believe that it's Amazon playing hard with Visa, and in effect their competitors too, to get a better deal.
it's oft said that American Express are the provider unpopular with retailers, so it's interesting that this has developed the way it has so far.

Yes but perhaps they tolerate high fees from Amex because of the low volume? The huge increase by VISA presumably hits them harder overall. It's reportedly from 0.3% to 1.5% according to the Financial Times.

When you order from amazon.co.uk, you're actually buying from Amazon Luxembourg. UK<->EU card fees are not covered by the cap on fees.

So yes, this is partly a consequence of Brexit. But much more about amazon's tax minimisation strategy.

Nah, both. Amazon did what they did before Brexit. Right or wrong, it's a different story.

VISA took the opportunity afforded by Brexit to impose a massive price hike - and that's the real story.

The fact that UK rules have allowed them to do this is the underlying issue - why had this "beneficial" EU rule been dropped, without discussion? How many others are waiting to come to light?
