Post by richard@imutual » Thu Dec 02 2021 8:04am

I'm pleased to announce that the winners of the Post-of-the-month competition for November 2021, as determined by ratings by our members, are:

Winner (100 shares): pabenny for the post in the topic Sleepwalking with 4 thanks

Runner-up (25 shares): macliam for the post in the topic Re: Coronavirus/COVID-19 part 2 with 4 thanks

Having received the same number of thanks, the above two positions were decided using shares held by those who thanked: 35064 and 31700 respectively.
3rd place (10 shares): poland71 for the post in the topic Re: Clean jokes - post 'em here with 3 thanks

The prizes have been credited to the winners' accounts :)

ditto. 4 thanks for the winner is an all time low I guess. If people do not thank it can be very disheartening for those who make an effort to write the posts.

As I understand it, Competition posts are not eligible for post of the month. I guess Swagbucks could be put into that category. However aside from that. The fact that I got 6 thanks for that post was not my beef and I did not expect to win because of it.

My point was that thanks for posts are at an all time low alongside support for the site in general and that everyone should be encouraged to be polite and say thank you to those (few) who take the time and effort to make a post.

I agree about the lack of thanks - although I must admit to being guilty myself of failing to thank a useful post  I've also seemingly been on the end of the "rules" relating to what does and doesn't count towards the thanks total, but it hardly seems worth complaining abour.

The problem is that it takes an amount of time to construct a useful post - something more than an off-the -cuff comment or whinge - and particularly where images are posted or other data cut in. For such posts then to get a read count in fairly high figures, but few (if any) thanks is hardly an incentive for the poster to continue posting.....

We have lost some of the people who animated the forums, we have lost kev's competitions and we have lost the regular imutual competitions of the past - but we have some new members posting and thanking, so those of us that have been around for a while have a duty to ensure they get a good experience from what has become a far poorer platform - and to rebuild the forums as a USP for imutual.
