new iplayer is a nightmare for some of us

Post by blythburgh » Tue Dec 14 2021 10:05am

Sunday: football has finished and I switch over to watch Countryfile. Want to watch from start so as usual head for iplayer. Instead of the old format there is a totally new one which does not have the the old format of watch live on the front page if you want a BBC1 programme or the list of channels so you can hit BBC2 and get the watch live option there.
I found is too confusing, could not find what I wanted and as I have a bad cold and feeling yeuk just gave up and watched BBC 2 live instead.

Posted this on my local group FB page and got these replies:

The new format has been driving me mad for several weeks now!

and

it must be a fortnight since it struck my FreeviewPlay set

Why fix something in a way that makes it useless?

BBC Sounds...... just sayin' :(

I used to have the day's R4 schedule as my opening page. Now it has amnesia and I have to nacigate each time....

iPlayer, by default, should be a roll-back of aired BBC programmes, with other content as an add-on. But no, insted I have to trawl through carp to get what I want. Equally, on mobile, trying to find previous episodes of a programme??? Possible, but just too much effort.....

Why do you need a mobile?

You can have it posted to you via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

or You can visit a walk-through or a drive-through test site.

Tests are currently available to be posted and appointments are available at all sites, Although as you have a positive LF and do not drive unless it is next door, the walk through site will not be a lot of use to you.

That is worrying news, at any time, let alone at the moment.

Given the issues I had even getting a first vaccination, I know just how frustrating the attempts to get the obvious next steps done can be. My second jab is not until the 5th Jan and I have concerns about that, due to the demand for vaccine - but despite the doors being thrown open to everyone to get a booster, no earlier date for my second jab is available!!

I hope you do manage to get a PCR test ASAP - and I hope (unlikely as it might seem) that it returns a negative result.... otherwise, at best, it's going to be a very unwelcome Christmas present. :(

Take care, keep warm and dosed up on whatever you need to see you through. Keep us informed here, because we are all concerned about you.

We used Rachael's mobile number in the end , both me and wife LF tests were positive but we were expecting it . Rachael's husband had an outbreak at his place of work on Monday 6th Dec , he did a LF test on Monday evening and it was positive. Went to a drive in for PCR on Tuesday morning and got positive result back at 9pm on the same day ( Rachael's , leo's and baby Cody were negative ) . To try and protect their 6 month old ( Cody ) we looked after him from Wednesday 8th. On Saturday 11th Rachael and older son ( 6 year old Leo ) again went to drive in for PCR test , this time Rachael was positive ( Leo still negative ) . On the Sunday (12th ) Cody started coughing and sneezing , often in our face whilst nappy changing , and Monday morning we did a LF test on Cody which was positive . Rachael then took him back home and took him for a PCR test which came back positive . Both myself and wife did LF tests on Monday which were negative but repeated on Wednesday and were positive . Just had a email saying PCR tests will arrive today .
