Post Office Online Saver

Post by planteria » Wed Dec 29 2021 10:01pm

i think i read somewhere that Post Office are stopping payments into the Post Office Online Saver by Direct Debit, from March 2022.. is that right? has anyone received a letter to this effect?

Yes, this is right.

Coop account will be going in the bin shortly after this - hardly worth the effort for around £2.20 or whatever it is a month.

Yes, I posted this elsewhere and you replied there! ;)

It takes effect from 1 March 2022.

i've lost track of where there is then sorry Sarah. i haven't been through it in detail, but i don't think it will cause me any issues. most of my accounts have 3 or more DDs in place nowadays.

An easy DD if you're missing one, is Plum. At the lowest levels, they take £2-ish each month which you can then withdraw straight back to the account and it arrives immediately.

My referral if anyone fancies it:

thank you parched.. i think i have enough, but that may be useful to someone.

i have requested a new passcode from Post Office Money, as trying to do anything over the phone is painful. fwiw they've just told me that there is no problem with DDs being paid into Online Saver accounts and that this facility is not being discontinued.

are we to expect that this month's DDs are really the last?
i've been told again that they are not stopping, and i've had no letter from them to the contrary.

Emailed me to confirm

We recently wrote to you to let you know we have made some changes to your terms and conditions and what this will mean for your account.

Shortly after the 1st March, it will no longer be possible to deposit funds into your Post Office Savings Account using Direct Debit. Any existing Direct Debits you have set up with us will be cancelled automatically at this time.

You can still make regular deposits using internet banking or by setting up a standing order from your linked current account. All deposits to your savings account must come from the UK Bank or Building Society current account linked to your savings account.

If you would like any further help and information on these changes you can visit our dedicated webpage. Here you can access our FAQs and find video guides that will help you with how to login and update any of your details.

Thank you for saving with us.
