Shane Warne, Legend dies

Post by poland71 » Fri Mar 04 2022 2:51pm

Shane Warne, Australian Cricket Legend, has Died Aged 52

Only just read a tweet from him on the death of Rodney Marsh, when the tragic news of his own death was released. One Oz to another, brothers in arms!

Great guy, fantastic cricketer.

I remember him playing for Hampshire Cricket Club back in 2000 to 2007.
Still managed to put the fear in to both bowlers with his defying hits out of nowhere and the batsmen still very wary if a googly would be launched and get them impossibly "out" just like Mike Gatting found out with the "Ball of the Century".

Just goes to show how highly he was respected in Oz as his family have been offered a State Funeral by Victoria State for Shane.

In UK in the 20th Century only 2 non-royals were given a State Funeral. Field Marshal Earl Roberts in 1914 and Sir Winston Churchill in 1965.

Good on ya!

Well, Warny got his State Funeral, Memorial Service

Highly deserved, and what a memorable setting for such an occasion to say 'good bye' than the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
