I'd agree that it's becoming difficult to live without a mobile these days...... and the cutover to digital-only voice makes that difficly. An alternative to the O2 sim, which is now discontinued, is 1P Mobile, which uses the EE network... however, that does require a £10 top-up every 3 months.Sarah wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29 2022 2:23pmThat might make life increasingly difficult; lots of banking and shopping authentication mechanisms want to send TXT messages these days.
You could do worse than try to pickup an O2 "Classic 123" SIM card for 20p on ebay, before they become completely extinct. Stick it in a basic old mobile phone and then remain connected to the service for the purpose of incoming TXT and calls, potentially paying no more than £10 (top-up) every 6 months. This tariff also qualifies for a FREE weekly coffee, breakfast roll/sausage roll/bake/pizza slice, cinema ticket and more from O2 Priority.
