We have this sort of life insurance, took it out when our finances were very rocky and wanted to make sure we could afford the funeral if it happened in the near future.

Now we are in a better place and saved up enough to buy one prepaid funeral with the Co-op. The sale of the house will cover the other one. But sadly some people have bought their's from companies who will not be continuing when the new rules come in and worry their money has been lost.

Yes we are still paying the insurance as it will cover other stuff that the funeral plan does not cover.

A friend died in late 2020 and he had to have a Council paid for funeral. I have a pretty good idea why he cancelled the insurance policy he had taken out 18 years before. But he did not get the cremation we wanted as a burial was cheaper. Luckily he had been attending the local URC church and the Minister did a shortened service at the graveside. The lady from the Council said she had been to too many where family and friends stood around the grave not sure what to do. Makes me feel so sad for all the people who are going to die without money to cover a funeral. And I can see people who cannot afford to properly heat and eat and with inflation eating away at any savings will not be continuing with any insurance policy.
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler

They do some very cheap and simple cremations nowadays. Lots of companies offer very basic plans. No service. Cremation in a different part of the country where slots are cheaper. No mourners etc this one (not necessarily the cheapest, but picked at random) https://www.purecremation.co.uk/arrange ... 7C%20Exact for instance offers a very basic service for £1195

Ample for most people I would have thought especially if you are not taking into account the wishes of relatives etc,etc

I probably won't miss that one -- unlike most other FirstGroup sites, they only awarded Nectar points for tickets on their own services. GWR also recently left Nectar on 30 March 2022.

There won't be any train operating companies remaining as Nectar partners next month, although I hear that LNER promotions appear on Nectar Connect from time to time.

Nectar prices and all Sainsburys points offers, including saved offers have disappeared from website and app. Still showing in the smartshop app at present.

Yeah, seems a bit unreliable today. I shopped using the app earlier and did benefit from the Nectar price and bonus points on my item, but also noticed the "No offers saved yet" message appeared once when attempting to load the saved offers page in the Nectar app.

On the website right now refreshing the page can produce different results - sometimes my Nectar prices are missing, other times they're appearing!
