Yep, but now need to buy something first!
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me

That was previously a condition too… even though openly flouted / rarely enforced in some stores.

In my usual store, the coupons don't scan on the regular self-scanner. There's a secret scanner below the card machine instead.
Thanks. I'll look out for that. The store I usually visit has just replaced its self-scan checkouts and using the new terminals yesterday I had difficulty scanning coupons directly from my smartphone screen. The staff suggestion of setting brightness to maximum only slightly helped. If all else fails, I'll reluctantly try going back to printing them...

No coupons for me this week. Same thing also happened some months ago and persisted for multiple weeks, until going back and buying something appeared to resume these offers.

I think Waitrose come out of it a lot better than he does. They queried it, he showed his receipt, they said OK, carry on.
The story is one man's crusade over a coffee which he obtained with a modicum of temporary inconvenience.

Agreed. I noted he's described as "semi-retired" clearly having too much time on his hands.
