Tesco Price Promise - Now Coupons At Till

Post by Sarah » Mon Mar 11 2013 11:47am

If you shop in Tesco you may be interested to hear that they're launching Price Promise vouchers at the till starting today (this applies to UK stores, it was already on trial in IE stores).

To qualify, you now need to purchase 10 different product lines (previously 8). The other main Tesco Price Promise terms & conditions seem unchanged, so far as I've noticed. Comparisons apply to grocery items only (although non-grocery items and bag reuse should count towards your number of items, to help you qualify for Tesco Price Promise). The maximum coupon remains £10. Most stores participate, including Tesco Metro but not Tesco Express.

It's still possible to check your results at:

I allegedly saved £1.13 today. And I got £9 off my shopping as we spent over £70.

Unfortunely for them that bottle of whisky will be returned next time I am in. ;) Why a blend of 3 malts cost me £26.50 I have no idea but who cares, it pushed us over the £70 mark.

You may wish to use the Price Promise on discarded receipts because "every little helps".

You won't be able to do this if they are giving them out at the till

They need 10 different items to get a coupon. Better off at Sainsbury as you just need to buy 1 item.

Not usually... you need to spend at least £20 in Sainsbury's no matter how many items you buy, so can't simply add cheap filler items to qualify.

Also at Tesco I think bag reuse counts towards the items so nine items only needed additionally although the Price Comparison is for grocery items non grocery items count towards the total.

The bag re-use green points can be a con. I always tell the checkout person how many bags I have used but if I remember to check there have been rare occasions when no points have been added and a number of occasions when I have had less points than bags used. I recently used 0 bags but only got paid for 6. Did not find this out until I got home.

And I do use cloth bags I bought for 50p each that are about the size of the plastic ones they use. I do not use the free for life or the ones they sell. Those bags are bigger than there plastic bags so you end up with less points if you use them - if you get one point per bag of course.
