Should we charge people to include signatures in their posts?

I really only posted the idea to earn my daily 1 share! :D

In all seriousness though, the biggest "flaw" is surely that nobody would likely be interested in paying to advertise in this way (so it achieves the same as curbs on signatures, whilst seeming to have a better business case). Or would they?

I can't believe this idea is being taken seriously. If you don't want to see a signature/find them annoying like wot I do, when people go over the top. Turn off the facility. As for charging. What happens when someone becomes a member and creates a forum signature but does not realise they are going to be charged for it. I really see this as a non starter.

How to turn off your signature and stop viewing other peoples.

From the Home page select Profile.
Then select Manage your forum profile which takes you to the User Control Panel panel.
From there you select the Board preferences button which then displays Edit global settings page.
Then select Edit display options link which then displays the Edit display options page.
Here there is a Display signatures which is currently defaulted to yes - if you do not want to see signatures displayed then select the No button

Once done click the Submit button at bottom of the page to save the change you have made.

Magic! All signatures will disappear.

No need for charging, and no need to see peoples silly ramblings.

Yes, that's possible, however a problem with that is you don't see any signatures, rather than just blocking the over-the-top ones.

Of course, another effective alternative is adding members with annoying signatures to your ignore (foe) list!

The rules/charges if any for signatures should be the same as for the message content ---Now how about enabling avatars on the forum.

Good idea... how much would you be prepared to pay for having an avatar? :D
