Just an observation - the winning post was only thanked by one person, compared to six for the second place post. But because that person had more shares than all those other six put together, that post won.

I'm still keen that we use shares (or some other method) to determine the 'quality' of thanks, but I wonder whether there is a case for amending the voting system for future potm comps? Perhaps 'capping' the number of shares of one individual that can count towards the total :?

What other measurement tools have you got to give a fair outcome ?

One thought that comes to mind is to use an equation of number of thankers multiplied by their shareholding.
This would mean that if there was only one thanker with 1000 shares for one post then if another post had 10 thankers with only 101 shares between them then that would give a combined total of 10 x 101 = 1010 and thus that post would win.

Could do. But then that might go too far the other way, enabling a number of new members to (either innocently or otherwise) artificially promote a post above other contributions which are thought to be better by more established members

A cap of, say, 1000 shares would be a good solution. If there is thought to be a problem

I should have thought this was the best option. The existing way does seem to be unfair and the cap would avoid the problem of artifical promotion.
