As a Co-operative Bank account member I am worried that stories like this cause a run of the banks liquid assets and further sink the bank...?

Time will tell.

worrying - was going to transfer current account to them to take advantage of switching bonus currently on offer - might think again ?? already have their member credit card and a card account from about 20 years ago .

As an account holder, I will stay with them. They are covered by the bank guarantee and I see no reason to dismiss ther past service and ethical outlook to jump into bed with the other banks......

Sad to see what can happen to a good business due to lack of oversight ..... but won't be the first, or last I suspect.

Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me

I am aware of the Government safety net but it doesn't stop disturbance and changes to terms & conditions which may make the bank look a different animal from what it looks like today!

Somewhat misleading. As the article refers to well down the page, that was in 2013. Presumably that was the reserve made for bad loans. The article doesn't mention the current profitability of the Coop Bank.

I do not think Boro Boy wants to move but is worried how a story can ruin a bank. Apparently they are using figures from 2013 and not up to date ones so the story should not have been run in the way it was.

This kind of true but misleading story is only but a step away from lying or reporting lies as if they were true.
