How much of imutual you own + updated FAQs

Post by richard@imutual » Fri Feb 17 2012 3:07pm

You can now get an up-to-the-minute figure for how many shares have been awarded to imutual members to date - see
http://www.imutual.co.uk/report?id=651

I have also added a few FAQ entries specifically about shares and their worth. I'd be grateful if everyone could have a quick read and tell me if it all seems to make sense and if you think there are any useful additions or amendments I should make.

I've seen a few more posts (elsewhere) recently making misleading statements about the likely value of imutual shares. I don't know whether these comments were made in spite or ignorance but either way, the following FAQs will, I hope, set the record straight:

How much are shares worth?
How many shares are there in total?
Is a share only worth 0.001p?
If you keep giving shares away, won't that devalue my own shares?

The most important points, often misunderstood, are:
- The nominal value (0.001p) is NOT the same as the market value. As is the case with all public companies
- Just because the shares are not listed does not mean they are "worthless". It just means you have to wait for someone to make an offer for the company before you can realise their monetary worth
- The "effective" % of the company you own = your shareholding as a proportion of all shares issued to members, not as a proportion of the total authorised share capital.

If anyone has any questions on the above, feel feel to use this thread or start a new topic

I think I will hold a competition for us to guess how long it take us to get to 1 million shares. Is there any rules on competitions?

The company's share capital consists of 5bn

And then a competition for each billion!

Now, I have something to focus on!

Simply devide
878539
by the number of days we been open
606
Then divide 1,ooo,ooo by that answer then count forward the number of day from openin
Too easy :(
Let the shares sofa be S
Days open be DO
Million be M
Start date=SD

M/DO/M + SD

Easy now
