The main thing to remember with payin out anyway even if the merchant dosen't is that it our money and some members might not be happy about that idea.
if you look at claims; we've had 3 so far, only 1 paid, 1 pending but lookin unlikley to be paid and, in total, nearly 2/3 rds of members have voted no, probably more if ypou assume that the claimants all voted in favour of their claims

As we are told in the appeals cases the merchants sometimes pay out to the original referrer (rather than the one through which the transaction was made), then presumably imutual will get paid wrongly on occasions too.

This money could be used as a slush fund to pay out deserving members who have lost out through no fault of their own.

(But not to pay abusers who have been refused/lost cashback without paying anything to the merchant)

What would Imutual pay out if say Yipii ( http://www.imutual.co.uk/lotteries/yipiii ) went bust ? Members have probably paid out £10 for no return and If the payout was 50% of the £15 expected then members would be losing money.

No return should not be the case for anyone as if you do not win money from your plays are refunded into your account. Then you could buy goods at a discount.

Is it the policy to date? When I first joined iMutual, I had a load of dailes rejected because the affliate (whose name I can't remember, but the sites included Cascade Compare and Search Chief amongst others) didn't pay up. iMutual rejected them outright, but TCB, who were also caught out, paid 50% of the balance although only after some pressure was exerted via their forums.

Having said that, shortly afterwards TCB essentially gave up on dailes, which is why I stayed here, so I'd rather have the dailies and accept the risk of non-payment.

But who would buy from this site when you can get the same things much cheaper elsewhere, even after your discount?

Yes, you're right I forgot about that incident (affiliate chief). As I recall, we did end up paying for some transactions out of our own pocket, but limited that to a certain number per member. That was early in imutual's life and I wasn't confident that we had the financial strength to set a precedent of paying out for all transactions in such circumstances. Happy to revisit that decision if it's deemed appropriate

Not sure whether you're directing the question at me or other members (or both! :) ) but IMO we should pay out in full

That may be the case but the principle remains "No return should not be the case for anyone"

I think that no payout was made to anyone at the time but I could be wrong! Personally I do not feel it is necessary to visit the episode.
