Should footie fans pay for policing?

Post by BeautifulSunshine » Tue Apr 10 2012 11:18am

Andy Holt Assistant Chief Commissioner says "It's my personal view that we should have full cost recovery,". I think the Police force is changing from serving the public to making a profit. What do we pay our taxes for?

I'm in favour of all businesses that cause a need for enhanced policing having to pay for it. Pubs and night clubs should have to pay for the late night policing of town centres.
As far as football is concerned the clubs have rarely made any attempt to encourage their supporters to behave and the behavioural example set by players and managers only encourages the troublemakers.

I think that the football clubs should pay for policing as they are the ones that can afford it.

There's a huge amount of money in football. The fact that it's so badly (i.e. unevenly) distributed between the various clubs isn't the fault of taxpayers or the police. The organisations that control the sport should sort it out and ensure that the bills are paid.

Nothing to do with it! The principle is they should pay their way and if they can't then go. Maybe pay the players less!!!

In a word no! It's the club's responsibility to pay for the policing I think.

Currently it is the clubs responsibility to pay for policing within the ground and the public purse without.
