Bank holiday approved for day of Queen's funeral https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62862225 -- Whether or not you get an extra bank holiday depends on your contract wording . 28 days including bank hols means you are NOT entitled to it , 20 days PLUS banks hols then you are entitled to it . Many people lost out on the extra day for the Jubilee this year.

Queen’s corgis to have new home

The Queen’s beloved pet corgis were so often seen by Her Majesty’s side, whether inside the royal residences, in the gardens, or travelling with their owner by plane, train and limousine. Following the monarch’s death, concerns were raised as to who would now look after her remaining dogs.

But a spokesperson for the Royal Family has confirmed that two corgis, Muick and Sandy, will now be taken into the care of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, at Royal Lodge in Windsor. Candy, a dachshund-corgi cross, will also move to the royal residence, The Sun reported.

Not impressed by the sight of Andrew or Harry in uniform, despite neither having an active role or rank in the Armed Forces.

They have a right to wear any awards and medals, but not to wear uniform - and to do so suggests that their "loss" of honorary ranks is only skin deep (and/or temporary).

Why is it that it seems de rigeur to wear uniform at official events?

Of pictures published from yesterday's pageant, some strike me (as an avowed republican) as worthy of note.

Firstly, a picture of a sister who appears concerned at her brother's wellbeing...

Then, how many people realise the significance of the cap tallies worn by the sailors? No cap tally ever says just "Royal navy", they say the ship name..... these 180 tallies were hand tied by volunteers like my friend's daughter.
(it seems that the inclusion of pictures has a limit on number and positioning! TBC)

To continue my previous theme

An understandable focus on the diversity of the troops attending, but unfortunate given that there were many others who took part.

Then, a reminder (the Sunflowers) that the battle in Ukraine still continues

And then, finally.... a suggestion the the RSM's kit review was lacking...... a little less dubbing on those reins, Trooper.... look at your gloves!
