Currently his case is under a legal review, the sooner that decision comes the better. Then everyone will now if he was or was not fairly convicted.

Ched Evans has finally apologised but without admitting he was guilty of rape. This has come far too late. Why did he not come out quickly to say he felt it was wrong and indefensible to name the woman in the case.

The nastiest thing is that there supporters and opponents of Evans who will stoop to the lowest and nastiest things to show support for their stance.

I remember hearing his fiancee being referred to a golddigger from people who should have known better that to attack her. Now I (finally) hear that she is still with him because she loves him, her Dad is rich enough to keep her in the lap of luxury.

Or is it going to end up like the John Leslie furore. His unknown girlfriend got publicty which she used to become a Z list celebrity and make money out of the situation. Her name escapes me at the moment and I have no idea if even those who go for the Z list are still interested in her.

I'm conflicted by this case

If the deal was cancelled due to threats and the activities of those opposed to his playing for Oldham, then I deplore their actions. However, it's the biter bit when you consider how his supporters have outed and threatened the young woman in the case.

It would not be the first time that someone was convicted incorrectly - but a "Role-Model" position should require the holder to have above average levels of respectability (some hope!) ...... so until the ruling is overturned he remains a convicted rapist who has only completed half his meagre sentence.

As for his apology, it's a shame that it took his lawyer so long to come up with such a meaningless set of words........
