In some ways I do not welcome the new LibDem MP's

I wish they had stayed and fought for their old party in many ways.

The takeover of both Labour and Conservative parties by extreme wings of each one is a tragedy for the whole country.

So I cannot welcome the new MP's and some new members without feeling sad they felt they had no other choice.

I see it as a realignment for the good. In my view the parties are showing their true colours. But it will not last. These things have a habit of going round in circles.

There will be a completely new intake of MPs at the next election some of those who crossed the floor will lose their seats and the Lib Dems will win some more seats as well. I will be surprised if there is not a handful or more of Brexit Party MPs. The face of politics is about to change much further.

What I find strange are those members of the electorate whom you hear on the TV saying I have always voted Labour but could never vote for Corbyn so I will vote Conservative or Brexit Party. Out of the frying Pan into the fire. One extreme to another. Wierd!!

People have to be honest with themselves.

I think some of them are leaving because they feel they cannot change their old party, and any attempt to do so will result in them being sacked. For example, Boris has removed the whip from all 20 odd of the Tory MPs who voted against the government last week, even though this absolutely destroys his former slight majority.

The people changing sides probably feel they can make more impact by doing so on their own terms.

I just find it so sad and extremely worrying for the country that the two main parties are no longer the broad churches they once were.
