- London Mayor too close a friend of extinction rebellion to do his job?
"undemocratic"??? You are very badly informed! He is too busy building his empire of highly paid advisors rather than spending the money on London
We're not saying that plastic pollution isn't bad, just that the persistence of polystyrene in the environment may be shorter and likely more complicated than we previously understood'
'The chance for injury to the environment over decades is still available.
Yes, I read the whole article and as usual the "experts" ideas are turned on their head time after time. Just look at the times the "experts" have changed their ideas on what we should eat; next they might be telling us it's not global warming it's the next ice age on the way. It wouldn't be the first time!pabenny wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11 2019 7:58amDid you not bother reading to the end of that article?

It's called advancement of scientific knowledge. It's rarely as binary is experts now saying that black is now white - that's over-simplification by headline writers. Most of these questions are complicated and it takes time for enough evidence to be obtained for a consensus to emerge.Boro Boy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11 2019 9:11am... and as usual the "experts" ideas are turned on their head time after time. Global warming and Ice Ages have been happening as long as this planet has been in existence, thinking we can alter the course of events is similar to thinking men are gods...! Lets just concentrate on cleaning up the planet, something we can do!pabenny wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11 2019 9:41amIt's called advancement of scientific knowledge. Take evolution, for example. Deeply controversial when Darwin first suggested it; now accepted by more or less the entire scientific community. Ditto the link between smoking and lung cancer, where there were vested interests from the tobacco industry seeking to deny and discredit the evidence.
The scientific certainty over climate change is comparable to the scientific certainty over evolution. But as with tobacco there are vested interests who seek to promote denial. I'm not clear from your posts whether you believe that climate change is not happening at all (and hence the data is wrong). Or that you accept that it is happening but believe that it is not human-made (and presumably, therefore believe that we need not take any action)
That's Boris Johnson you're talking about and you're as well informed as Steve Gibson was about DCFC
