"a dependable store of value and an attractive investment asset with more long-term appreciation potential than holding cash."
no doubt re the latter point.
corporate/institutional volume investors are likely to improve the dependability too.
i'm happy to guide a couple of members here into what i'm doing, with some free crypto and winding up with some Bitcoin generating interest.

Firstly, Bitcoin is high-risk. Only "invest" money that you are comfortable to lose all of it.
As with most things in life there are a number of ways to do the exact same thing.

it's an asset that has been volatile, denominated in dollars/pounds.
but, there's a logic that those, and other, fiat currencies are going to continue to reduce in value due to inflation, whilst bitcoin strengthens.
quantitative easing/quantitative hardening.

From the introductory paragraph on Wikipedia about Bitcoin:
Bitcoin has been praised and criticized. Critics noted its use in illegal transactions, the large amount of electricity used by miners, price volatility, and thefts from exchanges. Some economists, including several Nobel laureates, have characterized it as a speculative bubble. Bitcoin has also been used as an investment, although several regulatory agencies have issued investor alerts about bitcoin.
