No, this isn't a post about a new Marvel film featuring Deadpool's lesser known fat cousin, but to say that Labour lost the by election

Not really a surprise to most of us, Where do labour go from here? back to infighting and the Blame game I'm guessing

They need to accept that Labour most likely can't beat the Conservatives on their own and start to form alliances with other parties. This government is busy dismantling our democracy and judicial system with every passing day; the next general election might be the last chance to stop it, if not already too late...

Yeah they need to form an alliance with that party that nicked all their seats in Scotland and help them gain independence. That's a short term solution.

And if the Tories have not rigged the elections in their favour already an Independent Scotland will do it. Most seats but far less than 50% of the votes.
To be honest I think Labour shot themselves in the foot by a) choosing some other constituency's cast off and b) choosing someone who was a very strong remainer to represent a strongly brexit constituency.

It is not a good set of election results to decide how Labour is doing. The public looked at the vaccine roll out success and forgot that Johnson refused to have lockdowns until he was forced to. That the Tories got hospitals to send people with covid (they were not tested) to the care homes. Thousands of unnecessary deaths due to Johnsons poor decisions. The lack of proper PPE stuff for all in hospitals and care homes also led to unnecessary deaths. British firms who could supply stuff were ignored in favour of pals companies.
All of the above was forgotten or not known by Joe Public who only thought about the vaccine rollout. And to be fair to the Govt. they did order early and get the vaccines out there

There has been some degree of backlash against the Tories down south and especially in areas that are already hardest hit by Brexit, such as Kent. This isn't getting much press coverage, although neither is it of national significance yet; the Labour woes being a bigger and easier story to tell.
The apparent vaccine success also includes other factors such as luck, reportedly paying higher prices, relatively low hesitancy in the UK particularly for the AZ jab (which will be less of an advantage as we start to invite younger age groups to get their shots) and NHS involvement in the rollout.
There's now a 12 million dose vaccine stockpile in the UK; that's not throughput or unfulfilled orders but actual product sitting unused, mostly for nearly 2 months now and still rising.

It seems strange now that after 1992 Labour thought they could not win a general election and planned to work closely with the Lib Dems. Then people got sick of the conservatives, there was a lot of tactical voting in 1997 and Labour got a giant majority. Maybe it will happen again - especially the tactical voting.

"We are not safe until everyone is safe" the experts say. India tells us what can happen and we sit on vaccines when the developing world is unable to get any. Why?

I considered voting Labour despite Corbyn and a very nasty local candidate (not even a lot of Labour members like her) but decided our sitting Tory MP would be elected again. He was with well over 50% of the vote. So my pointless vote for my MP was one more in the national total for the LibDems

That's less than 1 months useage at the current rate of vaccinations.
