Yes our Micra is over 10 years old but when I checked upon first hearing about this I found it will be OK.
Sorry I did not bring it up here but life keeps getting in my way and stuff goes out of my head

E5 is not being discontinued, despite reports to the contrary.
You can check whether your car will work or not here
https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10 ... ce.gov.uk/
Most cars (even those over 10 years old will run on E10 fuel. if by chance your car does not, it will still be available. It is not being completely discontinued. If you're still not sure, use E5 petrol.
It will still be available in the super grade at many filling stations.

Ethanol is both cheaper than petrol and less efficient...... so a double whammy if the price stays the same.

On Look East they pointed out the problems you face if you have a petrol driven lawn mower. And apparently it is a very bad idea to leave it over the winter with fuel in the tank. No lawn so no lawnmower so no comment

Not really, it reduces the harm per given amount of fuel, but reduces engine efficiency thereby increasing the overall amount of fuel required - so it may be marginally less polluting, but at a vast cost.
Plus we have to be watchful of the source of the ethanol used - vast amounts are produced in Brazil from sugar cane grown where the Amazon forest once stood.....
As well as greenwashing, there are a lot of headline strategies that aren't what they seem.

So yet again, macliam teaches me something. So much greenwashing around. Like the proud boast that this item of clothing is made from recycled bottles. Did not want to buy the items I have seen with that tag so did not give it a 2nd thought. Then read the obvious: one fleece made from plastic bottles that will be worn and eventually be chucked away for one reason or another. In some cases far quicker than any top I own. But the plastic bottle I put in the recycling bin that becomes another plastic bottle can be recycled endlessly.
